Do you have ever a hankering for Asian buffet food I do. Here in Los Angeles, most are located in suburban strip malls, with acres of parking, far from rapid transit and walkable neighborhoods. However I did stumble across an Asian buffet located very close to a Metrolink Station.

The adventure begins at Los Angeles Union Station with a 12:38 departure on train 314 of the San Bernadino Line, with stops at Cal State Los Angeles and El Monte. Arrival is 32 minutes later, at 1:10. Exit the platform ascend the stairs to the walkway that crosses the tracks, and enter the parking lot. Upon exiting the parking lot, follow the driveway and make a left. There you will find the Golden Panda Buffet.

Golden Panda is clean, bright and serve a variety of Asian dishes from gyoza to sushi to broccoli and beef. A very good deal for $for 19.95 or so.

I had about 20 minutes to spare before my return trip, so I walked around the mini–Transit

Oriented Development, and from the looks of it, a redeveloped strip mall.

Train 318 leaves the Baldwin Park station at 2:38 pm, and arrives at Union Station at 3:10. This was a fun, unexpected less than 3 hours transit and food mini-adventure!
